55 AN ACT
66 relating to active duty personnel.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Chapter 55, Occupations Code, is amended to read
99 as follows:
1010 Sec. 555.002. EXEMPTION FROM PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO RENEW
1111 LICENSE. A state agency that issues a license shall adopt rules to
1212 exempt an individual who holds a license issued by the agency from
1313 any increased fee or other penalty imposed by the agency for failing
1414 to renew the license in a timely manner if the individual
1515 establishes to license in a timely manner because the individual
1616 was on active duty in the United States armed forces [serving
1717 outside this state].
1818 SECTION 2. Chapter 55, Occupations Code, is amended to read
1919 as follows:
2020 Sec. 55.003. EXTENSION OF CERTAIN DEADLINES FOR ACTIVE DUTY
2121 MILITARY PERSONNEL. A person who holds a license, is a military
2222 service member
2323 [member of the state military forces or a reserve
2424 component of the armed forces of the United States], and is ordered
2525 to active duty by proper authority is entitled to an exemption from
2626 [additional amount of time, equal to the total number of years or
2727 parts of years that the person serves on active duty, to complete]:
2828 (1) any continuing education requirements; [and]
2929 (2) any other requirement related to the renewal of
3030 the person's license [.]; and
3131 (3) any fees related to license renewal.
3232 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
