8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 201.002(b), Occupations Code, is amended | |
10 | 10 | to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (b) A person practices chiropractic under this chapter if | |
12 | 12 | the person: | |
13 | 13 | (1) uses objective or subjective means to analyze, | |
14 | 14 | examine, or evaluate the biomechanical condition of the spine and | |
15 | 15 | musculoskeletal system of the human body or the condition of | |
16 | 16 | another system of the human body that is affected by the | |
17 | 17 | musculoskeletal system; | |
18 | 18 | (2) performs nonsurgical, nonincisive procedures, | |
19 | 19 | including adjustment and manipulation, to improve the subluxation | |
20 | 20 | complex or the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system or the | |
21 | 21 | condition of another system of the human body that is affected by | |
22 | 22 | the musculoskeletal system; | |
23 | 23 | (3) represents to the public that the person is a | |
24 | 24 | chiropractor; or | |
25 | 25 | (4) uses the term "chiropractor," "chiropractic," | |
26 | 26 | "doctor of chiropractic," "D.C.," or any derivative of those terms | |
27 | 27 | or initials in connection with the person's name. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
