| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is |

| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 1701.165 to read as follows: |

| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 1701.165. VETERANS ASSISTANCE. (a) In this section, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | "military veteran" has the meaning assigned by Section 55.001. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (b) The commission may seek to obtain state and federal |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | funds, including grants, to assist local law enforcement agencies |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | in providing training to military veterans who seek to become |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | officers. |

| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
