7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Section 25.081, Education Code, is amended by | |
9 | 9 | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | (c) The board of trustees of each school district that | |
11 | 11 | exceeds the full 7 hours of instructional time required by Section | |
12 | 12 | 25.082(a) by at least one half hour daily for the full academic year | |
13 | 13 | may adopt a policy to credit the additional time to the number of | |
14 | 14 | instructional days required by Subsection (a). The excess time may | |
15 | 15 | be accumulated in amounts up to but not exceeding ten (10) days each | |
16 | 16 | year for days missed due to dangerous or extreme weather | |
17 | 17 | conditions. Unused accumulated days for excess instructional time | |
18 | 18 | shall not carry over to a school year other than the year in which | |
19 | 19 | the time was accumulated. After a district credits each day in | |
20 | 20 | accordance with this subsection, the district shall notify the | |
21 | 21 | commissioner in writing. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. Section 42.005, Education Code, is amended by | |
23 | 23 | adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | |
24 | 24 | (a-1) For any school day credited in accordance with Section | |
25 | 25 | 25.081(c), the daily attendance shall be reported as the quotient | |
26 | 26 | calculated under Subsection (a)(1). | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
