| 7 | 7 | | relating to coverage by certain health benefit plans for certain |

| 8 | 8 | | services prescribed to treat autism spectrum disorder. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 1355.015(c), Insurance Code, is amended |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (c) For purposes of Subsection (b), "generally recognized |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | services" may include services such as: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) evaluation and assessment services; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (2) applied behavior analysis; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (3) behavior training and behavior management; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (4) speech therapy; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (5) occupational therapy; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (6) physical therapy; [or] |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (7) medications or nutritional supplements used to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | address symptoms of autism spectrum disorder; or |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (8) recreational therapy. |

| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. Section 1355.015, Insurance Code, as amended by |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | this Act, applies only to a health benefit plan that is delivered, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | issued for delivery, or renewed on or after January 1, 2016. A |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | health benefit plan delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | before January 1, 2016, is governed by the law as it existed |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | immediately before the effective date of this Act, and that law is |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | continued in effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
