77 relating to posting certain economic development agreements on the
88 Internet.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subtitle C, Title 12, Local Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Chapter 500 to read as follows:
1212 CHAPTER 500. MISCELLANEOUS PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT PROVISIONS
1313 AFFECTING MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT
1414 Sec. 500.001. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENTS POSTED ON
1515 INTERNET. (a) In this section:
1616 (1) "Economic development agreement" means an
1717 agreement entered into between a political subdivision and a person
1818 to promote state or local economic development and stimulate
1919 business and commercial activity, including an agreement that
2020 provides financial or other incentives to a business to locate,
2121 stay, or expand its operations in or near the political
2222 subdivision.
2323 (2) "Political subdivision" means a county,
2424 municipality, school district, junior college district, other
2525 special district, or other subdivision of state government.
2626 (b) A political subdivision that maintains an Internet
2727 website must post on the website each economic development
2828 agreement that the political subdivision enters into. The political
2929 subdivision must post each agreement continuously from the date the
3030 agreement is executed until the date the agreement expires.
3131 SECTION 2. Notwithstanding Section 500.001, Local
3232 Government Code, as added by this Act, a political subdivision must
3333 post each economic development agreement as defined by that section
3434 that is in effect on the effective date of this Act not later than
3535 December 1, 2015.
3636 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
