| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Labor Code, is amended by adding | |
| 10 | 10 | Section 1.005 to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 1.005. CONFORMITY OF LOCAL LAW TO STATE LAW. (a) | |
| 12 | 12 | Notwithstanding any other provision of state law, including this | |
| 13 | 13 | chapter, a political subdivision may not adopt or enforce an order | |
| 14 | 14 | or ordinance pertaining to the subject matter of this code. | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) This chapter preempts all local ordinances, rules, or | |
| 16 | 16 | regulations adopted by a political subdivision of this state | |
| 17 | 17 | relating to employment. | |
| 18 | 18 | (c) An order or ordinance adopted by a county, municipality | |
| 19 | 19 | or political subdivision before the date this provision becomes law | |
| 20 | 20 | and that violates subsection (a) is null and void. | |
| 21 | 21 | (d) To the extent to which there is a conflict between this | |
| 22 | 22 | section and any other section of this Code, this section controls. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. The following provisions of the Labor Code are | |
| 24 | 24 | repealed: | |

| 26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
