| 11 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Article 44.281, Code of Criminal Procedure, is |

| 13 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |

| 14 | 12 | | Art. 44.281. MISDEMEANOR CASE ON APPEAL FROM MUNICIPAL |

| 15 | 13 | | COURT: COLLECTION [DISPOSITION] OF FINES AND COSTS [WHEN |
|---|
| 16 | 14 | | MISDEMEANOR AFFIRMED]. In misdemeanor cases [affirmed] on appeal |
|---|
| 17 | 15 | | from a municipal court, the fine imposed on appeal and the costs |
|---|
| 18 | 16 | | imposed on appeal shall be collected from the defendant, and the |
|---|
| 19 | 17 | | fine of the municipal court when collected shall be paid into the |
|---|
| 20 | 18 | | municipal treasury. |

| 21 | 19 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|---|
| 22 | 20 | | to a fine or cost imposed on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 23 | 21 | | A fine or cost imposed before the effective date of this Act is |
|---|
| 24 | 22 | | governed by the law in effect on the date the fine or cost was |
|---|
| 25 | 23 | | imposed, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |

| 26 | 24 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
