                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            February 19, 2015      TO: Honorable Jimmie Don Aycock, Chair, House Committee on Public Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB440 by Gonzales, Larry (Relating to adapting the public school physical education curriculum to accommodate the needs of students with mental disabilities.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require that the public school physical education (PE) curriculum be adapted to accommodate the needs of students with mental disabilities. The bill has no direct fiscal implications for the Foundation School Program (FSP) and no significant impact on the operations of the Texas Education Agency(TEA). Local Government Impact School districts would be required to provide PE curriculum to accommodate students with mental disabilities. There may be some administrative costs to school districts to determine if students meet the definition of having a mental disability.
