66 AN ACT
77 relating to the availability on the Internet of personal financial
88 statements filed by certain state officeholders.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 572, Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 572.0321 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 572.0321. AVAILABILITY OF CERTAIN STATEMENTS ON
1313 INTERNET. (a) The commission shall make available to the public on
1414 the commission's Internet website each financial statement filed
1515 under this subchapter by the following persons:
1616 (1) a member of the legislature;
1717 (2) an executive or judicial officer elected in a
1818 statewide election; and
1919 (3) a member of the State Board of Education.
2020 (b) The commission shall make a financial statement
2121 described in Subsection (a) available on the commission's Internet
2222 website not later than the 10th business day after the date the
2323 statement is filed.
2424 (c) The commission shall remove the home address of an
2525 individual from a financial statement filed by the individual under
2626 this subchapter before posting the statement on the commission's
2727 Internet website under this section.
2828 (d) Notwithstanding Section 572.032(c), the commission may
2929 not remove a financial statement described in Subsection (a) from
3030 the commission's Internet website before the 10th anniversary of
3131 the date the commission makes the statement available on the
3232 commission's Internet website.
3333 SECTION 2. Section 572.0321, Government Code, as added by
3434 this Act, applies only to a financial statement filed under
3535 Subchapter B, Chapter 572, Government Code, that is due on or after
3636 September 1, 2015.
3737 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
