66 AN ACT
77 relating to acceptable forms of identification for voting for
88 persons who are 65 years of age or older.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 63.0101, Election Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 Sec. 63.0101. DOCUMENTATION OF PROOF OF
1313 IDENTIFICATION. (a) The following documentation is an acceptable
1414 form of photo identification under this chapter:
1515 (1) a driver's license, election identification
1616 certificate, or personal identification card issued to the person
1717 by the Department of Public Safety that has not expired or that
1818 expired no earlier than 60 days before the date of presentation;
1919 (2) a United States military identification card that
2020 contains the person's photograph that has not expired or that
2121 expired no earlier than 60 days before the date of presentation;
2222 (3) a United States citizenship certificate issued to
2323 the person that contains the person's photograph;
2424 (4) a United States passport issued to the person that
2525 has not expired or that expired no earlier than 60 days before the
2626 date of presentation; or
2727 (5) a license to carry a concealed handgun issued to
2828 the person by the Department of Public Safety that has not expired
2929 or that expired no earlier than 60 days before the date of
3030 presentation.
3131 (b) For a person who is 65 years of age or older, a form of
3232 identification described by Subsection (a) is acceptable as proof
3333 of identification regardless of whether it has expired.
3434 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
