104 AN ACT
115 relating to the termination of a volunteer deputy registrar
126 appointment.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Section 13.033(b), Election Code, is amended to
159 read as follows:
1610 (b) If a person is to be appointed, the registrar shall
1711 prepare a certificate of appointment in duplicate containing:
1812 (1) the date of appointment;
1913 (2) the statement: "I, ____________, Voter Registrar
2014 for ____________ County, do hereby appoint ____________ as a
2115 volunteer deputy registrar for ____________ County.";
2216 (3) the person's residence address;
2317 (4) the person's voter registration number, if any;
2418 (5) a statement that the term of the appointment
2519 expires December 31 of an even-numbered year; and
2620 (6) a statement that the appointment terminates on the
2721 person's final conviction for an offense for failure to deliver a
2822 registration application and may terminate on the registrar's
2923 determination that the person failed to adequately review a
3024 registration application, intentionally destroyed or physically
3125 altered a registration application, or engaged in any other
3226 activity that conflicts with the responsibilities of a volunteer
3327 deputy registrar under this chapter.
3428 SECTION 2. Section 13.036(b), Election Code, is amended to
3529 read as follows:
3630 (b) The registrar may terminate the appointment of a
3731 volunteer deputy registrar on a determination by the registrar that
3832 the volunteer deputy:
3933 (1) failed to adequately review a registration
4034 application as required by Section 13.039;
4135 (2) intentionally destroyed or physically altered a
4236 registration application; or
4337 (3) engaged in any other activity that conflicts with
4438 the responsibilities of a volunteer deputy registrar under this
4539 chapter.
4640 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
