8	8	AN ACT
9	9	relating to the composition and terms of office of the Texas
10	10	Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
11	11	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
12	12	SECTION 1. Section 5.02(a), Alcoholic Beverage Code, is
13	13	amended to read as follows:
14	14	(a) The commission is composed of five [three] members, who
15	15	are appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the
16	16	senate.
17	17	SECTION 2. Section 5.03, Alcoholic Beverage Code, is
18	18	amended to read as follows:
19	19	Sec. 5.03. TERMS OF OFFICE. The members of the commission
20	20	hold office for staggered terms of six years, with the term of one
21	21	or two members, as applicable, [member] expiring every two years.
22	22	Each member holds office until the member's [his] successor is
23	23	appointed and has qualified. A member may be appointed to
24	24	consecutive terms [succeed himself].
25	25	SECTION 3. (a) Promptly after this Act takes effect, the
26	26	governor shall appoint two additional members to the Texas
27	27	Alcoholic Beverage Commission. In appointing those members, the
28	28	governor shall appoint one person to a term expiring November 15,
29	29	2019, and one person to a term expiring November 15, 2021.
30	30	(b) Until all appointees have taken office, a quorum of the
31	31	Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is a majority of the number of
32	32	members who are qualified.
33	33	SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
