| 7 | 7 | | relating to outreach materials to foster awareness of recent public |

| 8 | 8 | | school curriculum changes. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 28, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 28.015 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 28.015. PUBLIC OUTREACH MATERIALS TO PROMOTE |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | CURRICULUM CHANGE AWARENESS. (a) The agency shall develop uniform |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | public outreach materials that explain the importance and outline |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the details of public school curriculum changes under Chapter 211 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (H.B. 5), Acts of the 83rd Legislature, Regular Session, 2013, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | subsequent associated decisions by the State Board of Education. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | The agency shall make the materials available to school districts. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (b) The materials developed under this section must: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (1) be available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) be in a form that would allow school districts to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | mail the information to students and parents; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (3) include an explanation of: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (A) the basic career and college-readiness |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | components of each endorsement under Section 28.025(c-1); |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (B) the curriculum requirements to gain |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | automatic college admission under Section 51.803; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (C) applicable course, graduation plan, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | endorsement requirements for financial aid authorized under Title |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 3, including curriculum requirements for: |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (i) the TEXAS grant as provided under |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Subchapter M, Chapter 56; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (ii) the Texas Educational Opportunity |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Grant Program as provided under Subchapter P, Chapter 56; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (iii) the Texas B-On-time loan program as |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | provided under Subchapter Q, Chapter 56. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | (c) This section expires September 1, 2018. |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | SECTION 2. The Texas Education Agency shall develop the |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | materials described under Section 28.015, Education Code, as added |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | by this Act, no later than December 1, 2015. |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
