66 AN ACT
77 relating to acceptable forms of identification for voting.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 63.0101, Election Code, is amended to
1010 read as follows:
1111 Sec. 63.0101. DOCUMENTATION OF PROOF OF IDENTIFICATION. The
1212 following documentation is an acceptable form of photo
1313 identification under this chapter:
1414 (1) a driver's license, election identification
1515 certificate, or personal identification card issued to the person
1616 by the Department of Public Safety that has not expired or that
1717 expired no earlier than 60 days before the date of presentation;
1818 (2) a United States military identification card that
1919 contains the person's photograph that has not expired or that
2020 expired no earlier than 60 days before the date of presentation;
2121 (3) a United States citizenship certificate issued to
2222 the person that contains the person's photograph;
2323 (4) a United States passport issued to the person that
2424 has not expired or that expired no earlier than 60 days before the
2525 date of presentation; [or]
2626 (5) a license to carry a concealed handgun issued to
2727 the person by the Department of Public Safety that has not expired
2828 or that expired no earlier than 60 days before the date of
2929 presentation;
3030 (6) a Veteran Health Identification Card issued by the
3131 United States Department of Veterans Affairs that contains the
3232 person's photograph; or
3333 (7) a student identification card issued by a public,
3434 private, or independent institution of higher education that
3535 contains the person's photograph.
3636 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
