| 13 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 502, Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 15 | 9 | | is amended by adding Section 502.004 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | Sec. 502.004. INFORMATION ON ALTERNATIVELY FUELED |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | VEHICLES. (a) In this section, "alternatively fueled vehicle" |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | means a motor vehicle that is capable of using a fuel other than |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | gasoline or diesel fuel. |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | (b) The department by rule shall establish a program to |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | collect information about the number of alternatively fueled |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | vehicles registered in this state. |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | (c) The department shall submit an annual report to the |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | legislature that includes the information collected under this |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | section. The report must, at a minimum, show the number of vehicles |
|---|
| 26 | 20 | | registered in this state that use: |
|---|
| 27 | 21 | | (1) electric plug-in drives; |
|---|
| 28 | 22 | | (2) hybrid electric drives; |
|---|
| 29 | 23 | | (3) compressed natural gas drives; and |
|---|
| 30 | 24 | | (4) liquefied natural gas drives. |
|---|
| 31 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2016. |
