245 relating to the purchase of certain insurance by public school
256 districts.
267 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
278 SECTION 1. Section 38.024(a), Education Code, is amended to
289 read as follows:
2910 (a) In compliance with this section, the board of trustees
3011 of a school district may obtain insurance against bodily injuries
3112 sustained by students while training for or engaging in interschool
3213 athletic competition or while engaging in school-sponsored
3314 activities [on a school campus].
3415 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016
3516 school year.
3617 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3718 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3819 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3920 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4021 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
