77 relating to a distance learning program at The University of Texas
88 at Austin School of Law.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 67, Education Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 67.28 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 67.28. DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM AT LAW SCHOOL. (a)
1313 The board shall establish a program that allows a student admitted
1414 to The University of Texas School of Law to participate in the
1515 student's first year of classes remotely from a facility at The
1616 University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
1717 (b) The program must be administered in a manner that is
1818 consistent with the accreditation requirements for the law school.
1919 (c) The board shall ensure that at least five students are
2020 allowed to participate in the program during each academic year.
2121 The law school may allow more than five students to participate in
2222 the program during each academic year.
2323 SECTION 2. The board of regents of The University of Texas
2424 System shall ensure that the distance learning program under
2525 Section 67.28, Education Code, as added by this Act, begins not
2626 later than the 2016 fall semester.
2727 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2828 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2929 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3030 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3131 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
