                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 3, 2015      TO: Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Transportation      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB823 by Wu (Relating to criminal liability for certain federal motor carrier safety regulation violations; increasing a criminal penalty.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code to create a Class C misdemeanor for certain offenses under the section that relate to tires, brakes, and load securement and are a violation of certain federal regulations. The offense is punishable by a fine of $150 to $500.  Local Government Impact There could be an increase of revenue from the establishment of a minimum fine amount; however, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
