8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 1602.257(b), Occupations Code, is | |
10 | 10 | amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (b) To be eligible for an esthetician specialty license, an | |
12 | 12 | applicant must: | |
13 | 13 | (1) be at least 17 years of age; and | |
14 | 14 | (2) [have obtained a high school diploma or the | |
15 | 15 | equivalent of a high school diploma or have passed a valid | |
16 | 16 | examination administered by a certified testing agency that | |
17 | 17 | measures the person's ability to benefit from training; and | |
18 | 18 | [(3)] have completed 350 [750] hours of instruction in | |
19 | 19 | esthetics specialty through a commission-approved training | |
20 | 20 | program. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section | |
22 | 22 | 1602.257(b), Occupations Code, applies only to an application for | |
23 | 23 | an esthetician specialty license submitted on or after the | |
24 | 24 | effective date of this Act. An application for an esthetician | |
25 | 25 | specialty license submitted before that date is governed by the law | |
26 | 26 | in effect on the date the application was submitted, and the former | |
27 | 27 | law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
