66 AN ACT
77 relating to the eligibility for an esthetician specialty license.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 1602.257(b), Occupations Code, is
1010 amended to read as follows:
1111 (b) To be eligible for an esthetician specialty license, an
1212 applicant must:
1313 (1) be at least 17 years of age; and
1414 (2) [have obtained a high school diploma or the
1515 equivalent of a high school diploma or have passed a valid
1616 examination administered by a certified testing agency that
1717 measures the person's ability to benefit from training; and
1818 [(3)] have completed 350 [750] hours of instruction in
1919 esthetics specialty through a commission-approved training
2020 program.
2121 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section
2222 1602.257(b), Occupations Code, applies only to an application for
2323 an esthetician specialty license submitted on or after the
2424 effective date of this Act. An application for an esthetician
2525 specialty license submitted before that date is governed by the law
2626 in effect on the date the application was submitted, and the former
2727 law is continued in effect for that purpose.
2828 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
