| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 37.002, Education Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (e) A student who is sent to the principal's office under | |
| 13 | 13 | Subsection (a) is not considered to have been removed from the | |
| 14 | 14 | classroom for the purposes of reporting data through the Public | |
| 15 | 15 | Education Information Management System (PEIMS) or other similar | |
| 16 | 16 | reports required by state or federal law. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 | |
| 18 | 18 | school year. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 20 | 20 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 21 | 21 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 23 | 23 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
