 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, Every day, peace officers devote themselves to the
 security and well-being of the people they serve, and Operation
 Blue Shield is committed to supporting them in their vital mission;
 and
 WHEREAS, Operation Blue Shield is a community-centric
 initiative designed to promote better understanding and improved
 relations between citizens and law enforcement; the campaign
 encourages open and constructive dialogue between police and the
 wider community and recognizes the importance of acknowledging
 diverse backgrounds and perspectives; toward that end, it raises
 funds to underwrite public safety endeavors and to help meet the
 evolving resource needs of peace officers; and
 WHEREAS, This innovative program was founded by
 philanthropist Toni Brinker Pickens and benefits from the
 involvement of the Dallas-based organization Economic Partners
 Investing in Communities; like other EPIC projects, Operation Blue
 Shield is backed by a broad range of city leaders, civic and
 charitable organizations, and concerned residents; these
 participants are focusing attention on the message that "We're All
 In This Together" and are urging Texans to "Go All In" to help forge
 stronger ties between police and the public; and
 WHEREAS, Safe neighborhoods are the foundation of a stable
 and prosperous society, and Operation Blue Shield represents a
 promising new effort to build greater trust between citizens and
 the peace officers who protect them; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas
 hereby recognize the Operation Blue Shield initiative and encourage
 Texans throughout the state to support this worthwhile program;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Operation Blue Shield as an expression of high regard
 by the Texas Legislature.
