| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Hale Sr. has served with exceptional skill and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | dedication as chief investigator of the Webb County District |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Attorney's Office for more than four decades; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A Vietnam veteran, Mr. Hale began his career in law |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | enforcement as a police officer in 1968, at the age of 21; he |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | quickly demonstrated outstanding ability as an investigator and was |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | promoted to the rank of detective with responsibility for handling |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | robbery, homicide, and injury cases; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hale was named chief investigator in the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | district attorney's office soon after joining that department, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | he is widely admired for his courage, judgment, and work ethic, as |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | well as for his knowledge and experience; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his remarkable career in law |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | enforcement, O. J. Hale has set a standard of excellence to which |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | others may aspire; the Texas Department of Public Safety is |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | completing a new crime lab in Laredo, and it would be most fitting |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | to recognize Mr. Hale's noteworthy achievements by naming this |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | facility in his honor; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | hereby direct the Texas Department of Public Safety to name the new |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | crime lab in Laredo the Oscar "O. J." Hale Sr. Crime Lab; and, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | copy of this resolution to the chair of the board and to the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | director of the Texas Department of Public Safety. |
