55 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, Oscar Hale Sr. has served with exceptional skill and
77 dedication as chief investigator of the Webb County District
88 Attorney's Office for more than four decades; and
99 WHEREAS, A Vietnam veteran, Mr. Hale began his career in law
1010 enforcement as a police officer in 1968, at the age of 21; he
1111 quickly demonstrated outstanding ability as an investigator and was
1212 promoted to the rank of detective with responsibility for handling
1313 robbery, homicide, and injury cases; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Hale was named chief investigator in the
1515 district attorney's office soon after joining that department, and
1616 he is widely admired for his courage, judgment, and work ethic, as
1717 well as for his knowledge and experience; and
1818 WHEREAS, Throughout his remarkable career in law
1919 enforcement, O. J. Hale has set a standard of excellence to which
2020 others may aspire; the Texas Department of Public Safety is
2121 completing a new crime lab in Laredo, and it would be most fitting
2222 to recognize Mr. Hale's noteworthy achievements by naming this
2323 facility in his honor; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas
2525 hereby direct the Texas Department of Public Safety to name the new
2626 crime lab in Laredo the Oscar "O. J." Hale Sr. Crime Lab; and, be it
2727 further
2828 RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official
2929 copy of this resolution to the chair of the board and to the
3030 director of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
