77 A JOINT RESOLUTION
88 proposing a constitutional amendment prohibiting a county or other
99 political subdivision from eliminating offices or changing
1010 district boundaries between the primary and general elections.
1111 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Article VI, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1313 adding Section 7 to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 7. During the period beginning on the general primary
1515 election day and ending on the following general election day, a
1616 county or any political subdivision of this state whose officers
1717 are selected from candidates nominated at a primary election may
1818 not, unless ordered to by a court:
1919 (1) abolish an office of the county or other political
2020 subdivision; or
2121 (2) change the boundaries of a district from which an
2222 officer of the county or other political subdivision is elected.
2323 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2424 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 3, 2015.
2525 The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the
2626 proposition: "The constitutional amendment prohibiting a county or
2727 other political subdivision from eliminating offices or changing
2828 district boundaries between the primary and general elections."
