88 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature
99 to exempt from ad valorem taxation a portion of the assessed value
1010 of certain real property used to provide housing to certain persons
1111 with disabilities.
1212 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1414 adding Section 1-p to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 1-p. The legislature by general law may exempt from ad
1616 valorem taxation a portion of the assessed value of property used to
1717 provide housing to persons with disabilities in an amount equal to
1818 the costs the owner of the property incurs to maintain, operate, and
1919 make improvements to the property. The legislature may provide
2020 eligibility requirements for the exemption authorized by this
2121 section and may provide for the manner of determining the amount of
2222 the exemption to which a property owner is entitled in a tax year.
2323 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2424 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 3, 2015.
2525 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2626 proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the
2727 legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation a portion of the
2828 assessed value of certain real property used to provide housing to
2929 certain persons with disabilities."
