H.R. No. 1028 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Art of Leadership program is previewing its exhibition I See You at the State Capitol on March 10, 2015, and the show will be on display through the remainder of the 84th Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, Now in its fourth year, the Art of Leadership program recognizes community, civic, and business leaders who promote access to the arts for all Texans; the 2015 exhibit is honoring Texas Senator Rodney Ellis for his invaluable support of the project; and WHEREAS, A curated collection from the Esperson Gallery at GreenStreet in Houston, I See You is a unique mix of modern and traditional pieces by natives of the Lone Star State and individuals active in the Texas art scene; several of the artists represented in the show have Houston ties, including Kelley Devine, Mario Gonzalez "GONZO247" Figueroa Jr., Jennifer Hannaford, Robert Hodge, Taft McWhorter, and Steven Silverstein; and WHEREAS, Through a variety of media, these artists have portrayed the stories of leaders, some renowned and some overlooked, who fought for equality, justice, and human rights; among those portrayed in the exhibit are Rosa Parks and Nelson Mandela; and WHEREAS, This noteworthy exhibition celebrates individuals who have inspired others through their strength, vision, and commitment to social progress, and all those who helped bring this project to fruition are truly deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby recognize the Art of Leadership I See You exhibit at the State Capitol and commend artists Kelley Devine, Mario Gonzalez Figueroa Jr., Jennifer Hannaford, Robert Hodge, Taft McWhorter, and Steven Silverstein for their participation; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Art of Leadership program as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
