| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Art of Leadership program is previewing its |

| 6 | 7 | | exhibition I See You at the State Capitol on March 10, 2015, and the |

| 7 | 8 | | show will be on display through the remainder of the 84th |

| 8 | 9 | | Legislative Session; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Now in its fourth year, the Art of Leadership |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | program recognizes community, civic, and business leaders who |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | promote access to the arts for all Texans; the 2015 exhibit is |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | honoring Texas Senator Rodney Ellis for his invaluable support of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the project; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A curated collection from the Esperson Gallery at |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | GreenStreet in Houston, I See You is a unique mix of modern and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | traditional pieces by natives of the Lone Star State and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | individuals active in the Texas art scene; several of the artists |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | represented in the show have Houston ties, including Kelley Devine, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Mario Gonzalez "GONZO247" Figueroa Jr., Jennifer Hannaford, Robert |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Hodge, Taft McWhorter, and Steven Silverstein; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through a variety of media, these artists have |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | portrayed the stories of leaders, some renowned and some |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | overlooked, who fought for equality, justice, and human rights; |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | among those portrayed in the exhibit are Rosa Parks and Nelson |

| 25 | 26 | | Mandela; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, This noteworthy exhibition celebrates individuals |

| 27 | 28 | | who have inspired others through their strength, vision, and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | commitment to social progress, and all those who helped bring this |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | project to fruition are truly deserving of recognition; now, |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby recognize the Art of Leadership I See You |
