| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Norma Linda Martinez Gallegos of Brownsville on October |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Tomasa and Raul Martinez, the former |

| 9 | 10 | | Norma Martinez was born in Brownsville in June 1944; she graduated |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | from Brownsville High School in 1963 and went on to build a 27-year |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | career as an elementary teacher, reading specialist, and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | facilitator before retiring in 2000 to dedicate more time to her |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | family; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Gallegos was a devoted wife to her husband of |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | 46 years, Ruben Gallegos, and the proud mother of two children, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Ruben and Norma Linda; she adored her two grandsons and enjoyed |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | attending and hosting family gatherings, visiting Las Vegas, and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | listening to the music of Elvis Presley; a woman of strong religious |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | convictions as well, she was a valued member of the community of |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | faith at St. Mary's Catholic Church; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Norma Gallegos inspired those around her with her |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | courage, kindness, and optimism, and although she is deeply missed, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | the loved ones she leaves behind will long remember her with great |

| 24 | 25 | | tenderness and affection; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
