No. 1151 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family, friends, and countless other individuals whose lives she touched were greatly saddened by the passing of Dorothy Maude Heffner Murphy on February 18, 2015, at the age of 93; and WHEREAS, Born on August 23, 1921, in Rogers, Arkansas, Dorothy Murphy was a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love, faith, courage, compassion, sacrifice, patriotism, and spirited humor inspired many across the state; she was especially well known and admired in the communities of Wimberley, Beaumont, Silsbee, Houston, Austin, Georgetown, Fulshear, and Wylie, where she resided over the course of her life; and WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Meema," she is remembered for her dedication to family, artistic talent, skills as an office manager, activities with the Altar Guild, and service as a Eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wimberley, where she and her husband, the late Richard Aloysius Murphy, devoted much time and support; and WHEREAS, Dorothy Murphy radiated the finest virtues of selfless care and concern for others through her consistent guidance, tender words of compassion, unconditional love for family, and heartfelt gratitude for her many blessings; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dorothy Maude Heffner Murphy and extend sincere condolences to all those who mourn her passing, including her 8 children, 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 70 nieces and nephews; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorothy Maude Heffner Murphy.
