| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of John J. Lewis of Violet on February 23, 2015, at the age |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of David and Sylvie Lewis, John Lewis was |

| 9 | 10 | | born in Sinton on August 10, 1938; a longtime resident of Violet, he |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | made his living as a farmer in the Violet and Robstown communities |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | for five decades; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan often delighted in the company |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | of his loved ones and friends, and he was the proud father of a son, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | David; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, John Lewis led a life that was rich in the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | intangibles that matter most, and although he is deeply missed, he |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | will forever be remembered with admiration and affection by all |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |

| 19 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 20 | 21 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John J. Lewis and |

| 21 | 22 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his son, |

| 22 | 23 | | David Lewis; to his brothers, Tommy and Billy Mazza; and to his |

| 23 | 24 | | other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 25 | 26 | | prepared for the family and that when the Texas House of |
