H.R. No. 1167
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Leo Delgado Jr. and Michael Guerrero of Foy H. Moody
High School in Corpus Christi have earned well-deserved recognition
by taking second place in the pipe division at the 11th annual
American Welding Society Mike Mylnar Memorial Welding Contest; and
WHEREAS, Held in conjunction with the Nueces County Junior
Livestock Show on January 9, 2015, this unique vocational education
event drew 120 students from 21 schools; and
WHEREAS, In the pipe division competition, two students, a
welder and a helper, are tasked with fabricating a pipe spool from a
drawing provided before the contest; Mr. Delgado, a junior at Moody
High School, and Mr. Guerrero, a senior, came in second while
competing against 22 other teams; their welding teacher is Oscar
Medina; and
WHEREAS, These two young men exhibited exemplary skill and
dedication during their award-winning performance, and they may
indeed look forward to a future bright with promise; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Leo Delgado Jr. and Michael
Guerrero on taking second place in the pipe division at the 2015 AWS
Mike Mylnar Memorial Welding Contest and extend to them sincere
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
for Mr. Delgado and Mr. Guerrero as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
