 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The family and friends of Barbara Jordan of Kingwood
 suffered a great loss with the passing of this beloved woman on
 February 22, 2015, at the age of 75; and
 WHEREAS, Born to Buell and Leta Belle Scott in Eagle Lake on
 November 28, 1939, the former Barbara Scott grew up in Baytown;
 after graduating from Robert E. Lee High School, she moved to Austin
 to attend The University of Texas; and
 WHEREAS, During her time at UT, she met her future husband,
 Ken Jordan, with whom she shared a rewarding marriage that spanned
 54 years; the couple became the proud parents of four sons, John,
 Mark, Scott, and Todd, and they were further blessed with seven
 cherished grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Kingwood, Mrs. Jordan was
 deeply involved in local and state politics; she served as
 president of the Greater Houston Council of Federated Republican
 Women, and she established the tradition of presenting a special
 pin to the officers and club presidents of the Greater Houston
 Council; an officer of the Texas Federation of Republican Women,
 she chaired the organization's state convention in 1999; she was
 also a founding member and president of the Kingwood Area
 Republican Women's Club and a regent of the Lady Houston Chapter of
 the Daughters of the American Revolution; in recognition of her
 extensive community service, Governor Rick Perry designated her as
 a Yellow Rose of Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Generous with her time and talents, Barbara Jordan
 led a caring and purposeful life, and those who were privileged to
 share in her warmth and affection will forever hold her close in
 their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Barbara Jordan and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
 husband, Ken Jordan; to her sons, John Jordan and his wife,
 Christie, Mark Jordan and his wife, Brenda, Scott Jordan and his
 wife, Denise, and Todd Jordan and his wife, Kathleen; to her
 grandchildren, Spencer, Stephanie, Nathan, Sarah, Luke, Brandon,
 and Briley; to her brother, Robert Scott; to her uncle, Toxie
 Kielman; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Barbara
 Jordan.
