| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The family and friends of Barbara Jordan of Kingwood |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born to Buell and Leta Belle Scott in Eagle Lake on |

| 9 | 10 | | November 28, 1939, the former Barbara Scott grew up in Baytown; |

| 10 | 11 | | after graduating from Robert E. Lee High School, she moved to Austin |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | to attend The University of Texas; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, During her time at UT, she met her future husband, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Ken Jordan, with whom she shared a rewarding marriage that spanned |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | 54 years; the couple became the proud parents of four sons, John, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Mark, Scott, and Todd, and they were further blessed with seven |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | cherished grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Kingwood, Mrs. Jordan was |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | deeply involved in local and state politics; she served as |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | president of the Greater Houston Council of Federated Republican |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Women, and she established the tradition of presenting a special |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | pin to the officers and club presidents of the Greater Houston |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Council; an officer of the Texas Federation of Republican Women, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | she chaired the organization's state convention in 1999; she was |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | also a founding member and president of the Kingwood Area |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Republican Women's Club and a regent of the Lady Houston Chapter of |

| 26 | 27 | | the Daughters of the American Revolution; in recognition of her |

| 27 | 28 | | extensive community service, Governor Rick Perry designated her as |

| 28 | 29 | | a Yellow Rose of Texas; and |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Generous with her time and talents, Barbara Jordan |
