 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Psychological Association are
 gathering at the State Capitol on March 12, 2015, to commemorate
 Psychology Day and to present a mind-body health fair focused on the
 connections among lifestyle, behavior, and overall wellness; and
 WHEREAS, A diverse discipline with boundless applications in
 everyday life, psychology benefits society by advancing the
 creation, evaluation, and implementation of psychological
 knowledge; psychologists study both normal and abnormal behaviors
 and treat individuals with mental and emotional issues, diagnosing
 patients and encouraging conduct that builds emotional well-being
 and resilience; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 1947, the Texas Psychological
 Association is a state organization that represents these dedicated
 professionals in clinical, research, and academic settings; with a
 membership of more than 1,500 practicing psychologists and graduate
 students, the association works to further the development of
 psychology as a science, as an applied practice, and as a means of
 promoting human welfare; and
 WHEREAS, During the TPA mental health fair, psychologists and
 other experts in the field are disseminating information and
 answering questions about a wide range of topics, including
 psychiatric disorders and related conditions, military veterans
 returning from duty, aging, relationships, and disaster response;
 and
 WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Psychological Association
 are providing outstanding care to their patients as well as
 furthering scientific understanding of the human mind, and in so
 doing, they are making a positive and lasting difference in the
 lives of countless residents of the Lone Star State; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize March 12, 2015, as Psychology Day at
 the State Capitol and commend the Texas Psychological Association
 for its service to the people of Texas; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
