| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Psychological Association are |

| 6 | 7 | | gathering at the State Capitol on March 12, 2015, to commemorate |

| 7 | 8 | | Psychology Day and to present a mind-body health fair focused on the |

| 8 | 9 | | connections among lifestyle, behavior, and overall wellness; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A diverse discipline with boundless applications in |

| 10 | 11 | | everyday life, psychology benefits society by advancing the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | creation, evaluation, and implementation of psychological |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | knowledge; psychologists study both normal and abnormal behaviors |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and treat individuals with mental and emotional issues, diagnosing |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | patients and encouraging conduct that builds emotional well-being |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and resilience; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1947, the Texas Psychological |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Association is a state organization that represents these dedicated |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | professionals in clinical, research, and academic settings; with a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | membership of more than 1,500 practicing psychologists and graduate |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | students, the association works to further the development of |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | psychology as a science, as an applied practice, and as a means of |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | promoting human welfare; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, During the TPA mental health fair, psychologists and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | other experts in the field are disseminating information and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | answering questions about a wide range of topics, including |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | psychiatric disorders and related conditions, military veterans |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | returning from duty, aging, relationships, and disaster response; |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Psychological Association |

| 30 | 31 | | are providing outstanding care to their patients as well as |

| 31 | 32 | | furthering scientific understanding of the human mind, and in so |

| 32 | 33 | | doing, they are making a positive and lasting difference in the |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | lives of countless residents of the Lone Star State; now, |

| 34 | 35 | | therefore, be it |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 12, 2015, as Psychology Day at |

| 37 | 38 | | the State Capitol and commend the Texas Psychological Association |

| 38 | 39 | | for its service to the people of Texas; and, be it further |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
