 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Carroll and Wanda Straley of Welch celebrated their
 50th wedding anniversary on February 27, 2015, and they may indeed
 reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared;
 and
 WHEREAS, Carroll Straley and the former Wanda Wilson were
 united in matrimony at Welch First Baptist Church on that memorable
 day in 1965; through the years, their family has grown to include
 their four children, Albert Straley and his wife, Becky, Donald
 Straley and his wife, Lorie, Debra Clay, and Jennifer Martinez, as
 well as their nine grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Valued residents of the Welch community for the past
 46 years, Mr. Straley is retired from his work with Helena Chemical
 Company, and Mrs. Straley was employed as a cafeteria manager for
 the Dawson Independent School District for many years; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to meeting their family and work
 responsibilities, they have been valued contributors to numerous
 worthwhile organizations in the area; Mr. Straley served on the
 DISD school board and as the fire chief for the Welch Volunteer Fire
 Department, and together the couple regularly attends Welch First
 Baptist Church; moreover, they spend their leisure time delighting
 in the company of loved ones and cheering on The University of Texas
 Longhorns and Dawson High School Dragons sports teams; and
 WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
 half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
 in their commitment to each other, and the strength of their love
 has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
 grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Carroll and Wanda Straley on their
 golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
 for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
