| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Carroll and Wanda Straley of Welch celebrated their |

| 6 | 7 | | 50th wedding anniversary on February 27, 2015, and they may indeed |

| 7 | 8 | | reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared; |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Carroll Straley and the former Wanda Wilson were |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | united in matrimony at Welch First Baptist Church on that memorable |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | day in 1965; through the years, their family has grown to include |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | their four children, Albert Straley and his wife, Becky, Donald |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Straley and his wife, Lorie, Debra Clay, and Jennifer Martinez, as |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | well as their nine grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Valued residents of the Welch community for the past |

| 16 | 17 | | 46 years, Mr. Straley is retired from his work with Helena Chemical |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Company, and Mrs. Straley was employed as a cafeteria manager for |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the Dawson Independent School District for many years; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In addition to meeting their family and work |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | responsibilities, they have been valued contributors to numerous |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | worthwhile organizations in the area; Mr. Straley served on the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | DISD school board and as the fire chief for the Welch Volunteer Fire |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Department, and together the couple regularly attends Welch First |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Baptist Church; moreover, they spend their leisure time delighting |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | in the company of loved ones and cheering on The University of Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Longhorns and Dawson High School Dragons sports teams; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | in their commitment to each other, and the strength of their love |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Carroll and Wanda Straley on their |

| 34 | 35 | | golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
