 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Children's Health System of Texas has served
 families and saved lives for more than 100 years; and
 WHEREAS, Formerly known as Children's Medical Center Dallas,
 Children's Health ranks today as the nation's sixth-largest
 pediatric health system, with more than 200,000 individual patients
 and more than 785,000 patient visits each year; its integrated
 network of facilities and services encompasses 2 campuses, 18
 pediatric offices, and multiple specialty care centers; and
 WHEREAS, More than 20 percent of all pediatric cancer
 patients in Texas receive treatment at Children's Health; in
 addition, the system has the largest pediatric heart center in
 North Texas, and it implemented the first TeleNICU service in the
 state in order to provide Level IV neonatal intensive care for
 patients from across the region; and
 WHEREAS, In partnership with The University of Texas
 Southwestern Medical Center, Children's Health established the
 Children's Medical Center Research Institute; the hospital system
 also coordinates with community organizations across North Texas to
 sponsor initiatives that promote the well-being of area residents;
 and
 WHEREAS, Children's Health employs more than 6,000 Texans,
 and its medical and dental staff numbers approximately 1,000; an
 economic engine for the region, it has an impact of approximately
 $1.6 billion; and
 WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1913, the Children's Health
 System of Texas has improved the lives of countless children, and
 its commitment to excellence and innovation have made it a model
 institution; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Children's Health System of Texas for
 101 years of service to the region and extend to all those
 associated with the system sincere best wishes for continued
 success in their important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Children's Health as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
