| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Formerly known as Children's Medical Center Dallas, |

| 8 | 9 | | Children's Health ranks today as the nation's sixth-largest |

| 9 | 10 | | pediatric health system, with more than 200,000 individual patients |

| 10 | 11 | | and more than 785,000 patient visits each year; its integrated |

| 11 | 12 | | network of facilities and services encompasses 2 campuses, 18 |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | pediatric offices, and multiple specialty care centers; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, More than 20 percent of all pediatric cancer |

| 14 | 15 | | patients in Texas receive treatment at Children's Health; in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | addition, the system has the largest pediatric heart center in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | North Texas, and it implemented the first TeleNICU service in the |

| 17 | 18 | | state in order to provide Level IV neonatal intensive care for |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | patients from across the region; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In partnership with The University of Texas |

| 20 | 21 | | Southwestern Medical Center, Children's Health established the |

| 21 | 22 | | Children's Medical Center Research Institute; the hospital system |

| 22 | 23 | | also coordinates with community organizations across North Texas to |

| 23 | 24 | | sponsor initiatives that promote the well-being of area residents; |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Children's Health employs more than 6,000 Texans, |

| 26 | 27 | | and its medical and dental staff numbers approximately 1,000; an |

| 27 | 28 | | economic engine for the region, it has an impact of approximately |

| 28 | 29 | | $1.6 billion; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1913, the Children's Health |

| 30 | 31 | | System of Texas has improved the lives of countless children, and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | its commitment to excellence and innovation have made it a model |

| 32 | 33 | | institution; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
