| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, For 70 years, families have come together to |

| 6 | 7 | | celebrate their faith at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Crane; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mount Zion Baptist has served as a spiritual home |

| 8 | 9 | | for many members of the Crane community since its establishment by |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | the Reverend T. J. Hollis in February 1945; this notable |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | institution has provided a setting for important rites of passage |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | in the lives of area residents, and it is there that congregants |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | have taken their wedding vows, baptized their children, and mourned |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | those loved ones who have come to the end of their journey; it is |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | there, too, that worshippers search for the essential truths and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | wisdom that may help them to lead more ethical, harmonious, and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | compassionate lives; the church also supports programs that enable |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | its members to reach out to those in need and to put into action the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | tenets of their faith; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, While Mount Zion Baptist Church has undergone |

| 20 | 21 | | numerous changes through the years to accommodate the evolving |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | needs of the congregation, it remains a constant and enduring |

| 22 | 23 | | presence in Crane, and many who have worshipped there have |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | experienced a renewal of their faith and the welcoming embrace of a |

| 24 | 25 | | caring community; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate all those affiliated with Mount |

| 27 | 28 | | Zion Baptist Church on the 70th anniversary of the church's |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | founding and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
