| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Our communities draw immeasurable strength from |

| 6 | 7 | | individuals like Rodolfo "Rudy" Ramirez, whose tireless work in |

| 7 | 8 | | behalf of area citizens has contributed significantly to the |

| 8 | 9 | | quality of life in Edinburg; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in the city he is proud to call home, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Mr. Ramirez began his notable tenure with the Edinburg Housing |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Authority as a board member in 1991, and he has ably served the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | agency as its executive director since 2011; under his steady |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | guidance, the organization has developed new programs to assist |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | low-income families and cultivated rewarding partnerships with |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | local businesses, community members, and The University of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Texas--Pan American; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Before joining the EHA, Mr. Ramirez worked as a |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | teacher for six years in the Edinburg Consolidated Independent |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | School District; from 1999 to 2005, he distinguished himself as an |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | ECISD board member, and he served as president of the board in 2000; |

| 21 | 22 | | a man of many talents, he started his own real estate company in |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | 1988, and as a state-licensed Realtor and instructor, he taught |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | continuing education courses for eight years at South Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | College; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The first in his family to attend college, this |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | admired Texan earned a bachelor's degree in education from UTPA in |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | 1987, and he is currently in pursuit of a master's degree in public |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | administration; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the love and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | support of his wife of 30 years, Pamela Montalvo, and he is the |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | proud father of four children: Rudy, Pedro, Ida Marie, and Ivy May; |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Rudy Ramirez has demonstrated a lasting commitment |

| 33 | 34 | | to making Edinburg an even better place in which to live and work, |

| 34 | 35 | | and in so doing, he has earned the deep respect and appreciation of |

| 35 | 36 | | his fellow residents; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby honor Rodolfo "Rudy" Ramirez for his |

| 38 | 39 | | contributions to the Edinburg community and extend to him sincere |
