45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Association of African American
67 Chambers of Commerce are gathering in Austin on March 31, 2015, in
78 celebration of Black Business Day at the State Capitol; and
89 WHEREAS, Officially established in 1988, the TAAACC can trace
910 its roots to the 1920s, when the Dallas Negro Chamber of Commerce
1011 was formed to facilitate the participation of African American
1112 business owners in the economic mainstream; the TAAACC today is a
1213 statewide network of African American chambers of commerce and
1314 represents more than 10,000 firms; and
1415 WHEREAS, The association educates members about laws and
1516 regulations that could impact businesses, and it works within the
1617 legislative process to ensure equal opportunities for African
1718 American enterprises; moreover, it coordinates with leaders in
1819 government and the corporate world to promote diversity and
1920 inclusiveness, and it supports policies that expand access to
2021 achieving economic prosperity; and
2122 WHEREAS, The Texas Association of African American Chambers
2223 of Commerce is an effective advocate for its members, and its
2324 notable endeavors have helped to improve business conditions and
2425 strengthen the economic base in communities across the state; now,
2526 therefore, be it
2627 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2728 Legislature hereby recognize March 31, 2015, as Texas Association
2829 of African American Chambers of Commerce Black Business Day at the
2930 State Capitol and extend to all those participating in the event
3031 sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable visit to
3132 Austin.
