| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and |

| 6 | 7 | | generosity of Helen Kilroy of Santa Fe, Texas, who passed away on |

| 7 | 8 | | December 22, 2014, at the age of 70; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born on November 5, 1944, Helen Kilroy worked as an |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | executive assistant and later enjoyed a career as a travel agent; |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | she and her husband, Jim Kilroy, shared 47 years together and became |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the parents of two beloved sons, Mark and Keith; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, In addition to her personal and professional |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | responsibilities, Mrs. Kilroy served as a volunteer with many |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | organizations in the Santa Fe and Hitchcock region; she played an |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | instrumental role in establishing the Santa Fe ISD School Education |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Foundation and served on the board of Santa Fe Parks and Recreation; |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | a district leader for the Bay Area Council Cub Scouts, she helped |

| 18 | 19 | | start the Cub Scout pack at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; as |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | a member of that church for more than 40 years, Mrs. Kilroy served |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | the congregation as a Eucharistic minister and as the organizer of |

| 21 | 22 | | the church's auction, and she also fostered seven young children |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | through Catholic charities; furthermore, she volunteered as an EMT |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | and paramedic for the Santa Fe EMS ambulance and worked with Meals |

| 24 | 25 | | on Wheels; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Of all her community endeavors, closest to her heart |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | was her establishment of the Mark Kilroy Foundation with her |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | husband; named in honor of the couple's 21-year-old son who was |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | kidnapped and killed in Mexico by drug smugglers in 1989, the |

| 29 | 30 | | foundation was created to support anti-drug efforts; Mrs. Kilroy |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | also helped organize the Substance Abuse Free Environment program |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | and the annual Mark Kilroy Foundation Fundraiser, which helps |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | secure grants for youth counselors; and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family and her community, |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | Helen Kilroy lived a caring and purposeful life, and she will |

| 35 | 36 | | forever be remembered with admiration and affection by all who held |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | her close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Helen Kilroy and |

| 39 | 40 | | extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her |
