| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society |

| 9 | 10 | | sponsors a 10-week Man and Woman of the Year campaign to raise funds |

| 10 | 11 | | for research; candidates employ their leadership skills and |

| 11 | 12 | | resources to collect donations in honor of local children who are |

| 12 | 13 | | blood cancer survivors, and the volunteer who achieves the highest |

| 13 | 14 | | "vote" total earns the prestigious title of Man or Woman of the |

| 14 | 15 | | Year; in 2014 alone, the South Central Texas Chapter raised more |

| 15 | 16 | | than $550,000 in its campaign to benefit this worthy cause; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has supported |

| 17 | 18 | | groundbreaking research since 1949; moreover, it provides |

| 18 | 19 | | information and support services for patients and their families, |

| 19 | 20 | | and it works to improve access to the latest individual therapy |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through her endeavors as a candidate in the Leukemia |

| 22 | 23 | | and Lymphoma Society's Woman of the Year program, Stephanie Simpson |

| 23 | 24 | | is furthering the organization's important mission and helping to |

| 24 | 25 | | raise public awareness of the need to find a cure for blood cancers; |
