| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. David McKee, retired professor of marine |

| 6 | 7 | | biology at Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, has been named |

| 7 | 8 | | professor emeritus by The Texas A&M University System Board of |

| 8 | 9 | | Regents; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Emeritus status is conferred on select former |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | faculty members and administrators in recognition of their |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | significant contributions to the educational community; many of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | these distinguished educators continue to serve the university |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | during their retirement; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A member of the A&M--Corpus Christi faculty for more |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | than a quarter-century, Dr. McKee made a lasting impression on the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Department of Life Sciences, helping to develop the current |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | master's program in fisheries and mariculture, implementing the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | annual assessment of Oso Bay, and acquiring approximately $2 |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | million in external funding for student research; in addition, he |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | served as the university's representative on the South Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Regional Agriculture Council, as faculty sponsor of the A&M--Corpus |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Christi Fisheries and Aquaculture Society, and as chair of the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Student Activities Committee of the U.S. Chapter of the World |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Aquaculture Society; he has published two books and is currently |

| 25 | 26 | | working on his third; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Held in high esteem by his colleagues, Dr. McKee is |

| 27 | 28 | | a recipient of the Conservation and Environmental Stewardship Award |

| 28 | 29 | | from the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation; and |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Through his myriad endeavors in behalf of Texas A&M |

| 30 | 31 | | University--Corpus Christi, Dr. David McKee has contributed |

| 31 | 32 | | immeasurably to advancing the mission of that school, and he is |

| 32 | 33 | | indeed deserving of this most recent accolade; now, therefore, be |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
