45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
67 passing of Jeanne Rene Chadbourne Aldredge of Dallas on April 19,
78 2014, at the age of 92; and
89 WHEREAS, The former Jeanne Chadbourne was born in Beaumont on
910 July 23, 1921, to Vaughn Russell and Bertha Baus Chadbourne; after
1011 graduating from St. Anthony's School, she received a scholarship to
1112 attend Rosemont College in Pennsylvania, and it was there that she
1213 met George Aldredge Jr., who was studying to be a doctor; they were
1314 set up on a blind date by friends because they were both from Texas
1415 and loved to dance to big band music; they were married in 1941; and
1516 WHEREAS, After Dr. Aldredge served in the South Pacific with
1617 the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II, the couple moved to
1718 Ann Arbor, Michigan, while he completed his orthopedic residency;
1819 in 1951, they returned to Texas, where Mrs. Aldredge raised their
1920 nine children in Dallas; and
2021 WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Mrs. Aldredge was an active and
2122 enthusiastic volunteer; she was president of the Dallas County
2223 Medical Auxiliary and the Dallas County Heritage Society and a
2324 member of the Dallas Junior League and the Dallas Woman's Club,
2425 where she learned to tap dance; she was also a skilled gardener who
2526 shared her expertise as a certified judge at flower shows around the
2627 country, and she served as president of the Founders Garden Club and
2728 the Junior League Garden Club; and
2829 WHEREAS, Devout members of the Catholic faith, Mrs. Aldredge
2930 and her husband hosted and took an active part in many religious
3031 discussion groups over the years, and she was president of the
3132 Mothers' Club at Christ the King School and a member of the board of
3233 the Catholic Charities of Dallas; and
3334 WHEREAS, Mrs. Aldredge delighted in the time she spent with
3435 her children and grandchildren; she also took great pleasure in
3536 traveling the world with her husband, and until his death in 2005
3637 after 63 years of marriage, she continued to love to dance with him,
3738 as she had on that first date so many years before; and
3839 WHEREAS, A loving wife, a devoted mother, and an involved
3940 member of her community, Jeanne Aldredge brightened the lives of
4041 her loved ones and benefited her fellow citizens, and she will be
4142 deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her; now,
4243 therefore, be it
4344 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
4445 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jeanne Rene
4546 Chadbourne Aldredge and extend sincere condolences to the members
4647 of her family: to her brothers, Dan Chadbourne and John Chadbourne;
4748 to her daughters, Virginia Pellegrini and Anne Terrell Aldredge; to
4849 her sons, George Aldredge, Vaughn Aldredge and his wife, Jamie,
4950 Christopher Aldredge and his wife, Cindy, Mark Aldredge and his
5051 wife, Laurie, Thom Aldredge and his wife, Trish, John Aldredge and
5152 his wife, Leta, and Matthew Aldredge and his wife, Alison; to her 21
5253 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives
5354 and friends; and, be it further
5455 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5556 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
5657 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jeanne
5758 Aldredge.
