5	6		WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
6	7		passing of Jeanne Rene Chadbourne Aldredge of Dallas on April 19,
7	8		2014, at the age of 92; and
8	9		WHEREAS, The former Jeanne Chadbourne was born in Beaumont on
9	10		July 23, 1921, to Vaughn Russell and Bertha Baus Chadbourne; after
10	11		graduating from St. Anthony's School, she received a scholarship to
11	12		attend Rosemont College in Pennsylvania, and it was there that she
12	13		met George Aldredge Jr., who was studying to be a doctor; they were
13	14		set up on a blind date by friends because they were both from Texas
14	15		and loved to dance to big band music; they were married in 1941; and
15	16		WHEREAS, After Dr. Aldredge served in the South Pacific with
16	17		the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II, the couple moved to
17	18		Ann Arbor, Michigan, while he completed his orthopedic residency;
18	19		in 1951, they returned to Texas, where Mrs. Aldredge raised their
19	20		nine children in Dallas; and
20	21		WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Mrs. Aldredge was an active and
21	22		enthusiastic volunteer; she was president of the Dallas County
22	23		Medical Auxiliary and the Dallas County Heritage Society and a
23	24		member of the Dallas Junior League and the Dallas Woman's Club,
24	25		where she learned to tap dance; she was also a skilled gardener who
25	26		shared her expertise as a certified judge at flower shows around the
26	27		country, and she served as president of the Founders Garden Club and
27	28		the Junior League Garden Club; and
28	29		WHEREAS, Devout members of the Catholic faith, Mrs. Aldredge
29	30		and her husband hosted and took an active part in many religious
30	31		discussion groups over the years, and she was president of the
31	32		Mothers' Club at Christ the King School and a member of the board of
32	33		the Catholic Charities of Dallas; and
33	34		WHEREAS, Mrs. Aldredge delighted in the time she spent with
34	35		her children and grandchildren; she also took great pleasure in
35	36		traveling the world with her husband, and until his death in 2005
36	37		after 63 years of marriage, she continued to love to dance with him,
37	38		as she had on that first date so many years before; and
38	39		WHEREAS, A loving wife, a devoted mother, and an involved
39	40		member of her community, Jeanne Aldredge brightened the lives of
40	41		her loved ones and benefited her fellow citizens, and she will be
41	42		deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her; now,
42	43		therefore, be it
43	44		RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
44	45		Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jeanne Rene
45	46		Chadbourne Aldredge and extend sincere condolences to the members
46	47		of her family: to her brothers, Dan Chadbourne and John Chadbourne;
47	48		to her daughters, Virginia Pellegrini and Anne Terrell Aldredge; to
48	49		her sons, George Aldredge, Vaughn Aldredge and his wife, Jamie,
49	50		Christopher Aldredge and his wife, Cindy, Mark Aldredge and his
50	51		wife, Laurie, Thom Aldredge and his wife, Trish, John Aldredge and
51	52		his wife, Leta, and Matthew Aldredge and his wife, Alison; to her 21
52	53		grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives
53	54		and friends; and, be it further
54	55		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
55	56		prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
56	57		Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jeanne
57	58		Aldredge.
