| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The untimely death of esteemed businessman and |

| 6 | 7 | | former football star Larry Kelm of The Woodlands on November 22, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2014, at the age of 49, has deeply saddened his family and many |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | friends; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in Corpus Christi on November 29, 1964, Larry |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Kelm was a gridiron standout at King High School and was named the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | district Defensive Player of the Year as a senior; he then joined |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | the football program at Texas A&M University, where he was part of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the Aggies' famed "Wrecking Crew" defense, excelling as a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | linebacker during the 1983 through 1986 seasons; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1987, Mr. Kelm |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | spent six years with the team; from 1990 to 1992, he started in 46 |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | games, and he went on to play one year with the San Francisco 49ers |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | before retiring in 1993; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Kelm returned to A&M to complete his degree in |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | civil engineering and later joined Environmental Improvements, a |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | company that represents manufacturers in the water treatment |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | industry; he ultimately entered a partnership that bought out the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | original owners, and he served as the business's president; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Known for his generosity and the consideration he |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | showed to everyone he knew, Mr. Kelm was always willing to lend a |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | helping hand, and his contributions included participating in a |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | 12th Man Foundation delegation that made a donation to Driscoll |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi in 2013; in his leisure time, |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | he enjoyed golf and other outdoor activities, and he relished the |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | time he spent with his family, which included his wife, Lynann |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | "Fidge" Kelm, and his children, Ashley and Drew Kelm; and |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Larry Kelm possessed not only tremendous athletic |

| 33 | 34 | | ability but also a warm, sincere character that was beloved by those |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | who were fortunate enough to share in the richness of his life, and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | he will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Larry Kelm and |

| 39 | 40 | | extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |

| 40 | 41 | | wife, Lynann "Fidge" Kelm; to his daughter, Ashley; to his son, |

| 41 | 42 | | Drew; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 42 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
