45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The untimely death of esteemed businessman and
67 former football star Larry Kelm of The Woodlands on November 22,
78 2014, at the age of 49, has deeply saddened his family and many
89 friends; and
910 WHEREAS, Born in Corpus Christi on November 29, 1964, Larry
1011 Kelm was a gridiron standout at King High School and was named the
1112 district Defensive Player of the Year as a senior; he then joined
1213 the football program at Texas A&M University, where he was part of
1314 the Aggies' famed "Wrecking Crew" defense, excelling as a
1415 linebacker during the 1983 through 1986 seasons; and
1516 WHEREAS, Drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1987, Mr. Kelm
1617 spent six years with the team; from 1990 to 1992, he started in 46
1718 games, and he went on to play one year with the San Francisco 49ers
1819 before retiring in 1993; and
1920 WHEREAS, Mr. Kelm returned to A&M to complete his degree in
2021 civil engineering and later joined Environmental Improvements, a
2122 company that represents manufacturers in the water treatment
2223 industry; he ultimately entered a partnership that bought out the
2324 original owners, and he served as the business's president; and
2425 WHEREAS, Known for his generosity and the consideration he
2526 showed to everyone he knew, Mr. Kelm was always willing to lend a
2627 helping hand, and his contributions included participating in a
2728 12th Man Foundation delegation that made a donation to Driscoll
2829 Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi in 2013; in his leisure time,
2930 he enjoyed golf and other outdoor activities, and he relished the
3031 time he spent with his family, which included his wife, Lynann
3132 "Fidge" Kelm, and his children, Ashley and Drew Kelm; and
3233 WHEREAS, Larry Kelm possessed not only tremendous athletic
3334 ability but also a warm, sincere character that was beloved by those
3435 who were fortunate enough to share in the richness of his life, and
3536 he will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now,
3637 therefore, be it
3738 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3839 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Larry Kelm and
3940 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
4041 wife, Lynann "Fidge" Kelm; to his daughter, Ashley; to his son,
4142 Drew; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4243 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4344 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4445 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Larry Kelm.
