H.R. No. 1308 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Texas colleges and universities contribute immeasurably to the future of the Lone Star State, and those professionals who give generously of their expertise to these vital institutions of higher education are indeed deserving of recognition; and WHEREAS, Dr. Carmen Olivas Graham has served on the El Paso Community College Board of Trustees for the past five years; she has nearly three decades of experience working in Texas public schools and universities as a teacher, administrator, and parent educator; in all of her work, Dr. Graham has maintained a steadfast dedication to improving the lives of people in her community and beyond; and WHEREAS, This distinguished woman received her bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at El Paso and went on to earn her master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University before completing her doctorate at New Mexico State University; recognized for her exceptional skill and insight, Dr. Graham was appointed to two terms on the Texas Workforce Investment Council by Governor Rick Perry; and WHEREAS, Dr. Carmen Olivas Graham has greatly benefited the students of El Paso Community College, and in so doing, she has garnered the lasting respect and admiration of countless people along the way; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby honor Dr. Carmen Olivas Graham for her service on the Board of Trustees at El Paso Community College and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Graham as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
