45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
67 of Eliseo Garcia Navarro of San Antonio, who passed away on August
78 1, 2014, at the age of 89; and
89 WHEREAS, Eliseo Navarro was born on March 5, 1925, in
910 Asherton to Aurelio and Maria Navarro; he graduated from Asherton
1011 High School and then answered his nation's call to duty, serving in
1112 the European theater during World War II; after his discharge from
1213 the military, he enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin and
1314 earned his bachelor's degree; he later graduated with a master's
1415 degree in social work from Our Lady of the Lake University and
1516 studied for his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago; and
1617 WHEREAS, Dedicated to serving others, Mr. Navarro was
1718 employed as a truancy officer and probation officer in Texas and
1819 Illinois before embarking on a successful career as an educator
1920 that included positions at Loyola University, UT Austin, and the
2021 University of Michigan; even after retiring from higher education,
2122 he continued to mentor young people by working as a teacher at Emma
2223 Fry Elementary School in San Antonio; and
2324 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he enjoyed the love and
2425 support of his wife, the former Dora Elia Jimenez Saenz, who
2526 preceded him in death; the couple raised four children, Ricardo,
2627 Maria Teresa, Diana, and Carlos, and with the passing years the
2728 family grew to include six grandchildren and two
2829 great-grandchildren; and
2930 WHEREAS, Eliseo Navarro will be deeply missed, but the
3031 generosity and commitment with which he lived his life will forever
3132 inspire all those who had the good fortune to know him; now,
3233 therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Eliseo Garcia
3536 Navarro and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
3637 his children, Ricardo, Diana, and Carlos; to his sister, Maria
3738 Perez; to his grandchildren, Cesar, Gabriel, and Vanessa Morales
3839 and Alejandro, Liliana, and Dora Navarro; to his
3940 great-grandchildren, Anjali and Ananda Navarro; and to his other
4041 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
4142 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4243 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4344 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Eliseo
4445 Garcia Navarro.
