 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the friends and loved
 ones of Harry Ben Adams III of San Antonio, who passed away on
 August 7, 2014, at the age of 70; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Harry Ben Adams II and Dorothy Lyons
 Adams, Mr. Adams was born on August 12, 1943, in San Antonio; after
 graduating from Edison High School, he attended San Antonio College
 and St. Mary's University, earning a degree from the university's
 school of law; and
 WHEREAS, Licensed to practice law in 1967, Mr. Adams began
 his career in legal aid services, and he helped to take a landmark
 case before the United States Supreme Court that eventually
 overturned the Texas law denying the right to paternal support for
 children born out of wedlock; he later established a law firm with
 his friends while teaching real estate law courses at night; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Adams continued to develop his expertise over
 the years, specializing in consumer, real estate, and family law;
 he went on to create an independent firm in Universal City, where
 his strong reputation among municipal leaders won him the position
 of city attorney; he additionally served as the staff attorney for
 the economic development corporations of Hollywood Park and
 Windcrest and as an attorney for business magnate Red McCombs, with
 whom he shared a close friendship; and
 WHEREAS, Harry Adams's commitment to his community and
 profession was surpassed only by his devotion to his family; he
 enjoyed a rewarding marriage of nearly five decades with his wife,
 the former Beverly Ball, and he took great pride in his children,
 Terra and Harry, and in his seven grandchildren; passionate about
 travel, Mr. Adams ventured with his wife to destinations as
 far-flung as Africa, Holland, Jerusalem, and Hawaii, and when at
 home, he enjoyed preparing gourmet dishes for friends and family; a
 man of devout faith, he was also a valued member of Community Bible
 Church; and
 WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Harry Adams
 will long remember his strength of character and generosity of
 spirit, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harry Ben Adams III
 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
 wife, Beverly Ball Adams; to his children, Terra Hynes and her
 husband, Jack, and Harry Ben Adams IV and his fiancée, Charisse
 Scott; to his brother, Richard Adams, and his wife, Cathy; to his
 grandchildren, Ricky, Ben, Samuel, Julia, Faith, Channing, and
 Cate; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harry Ben
 Adams III.
